C-BERS: CBERS Consultancy carries forward some of the counselling, information and advocacy roles provided by the former CBERSS (Christian Brothers Ex-residents and Students Service), which closed at the end of 2005.
CBERS Consultancy commenced operation in Fremantle in January 2006, and is a confidential and professional service available free of charge to ex-residents and students of Christian Brothers institutions, including Bindoon, Castledare, Clontarf and Tardun, and to their families. The counselling service is also available to people who are ex-residents of Sisters of Mercy and Sisters of Nazareth institutions, through funding from these Orders. Many CBERS clients are former child migrants, however the service is also available to Australian-born men and women.
CBERS Consultancy is located in the West End of Fremantle at the Edmund Rice Centre for Social Justice, and is operated by consultant Philippa White, who is an accredited social worker and a professional counsellor. :
