The official opening of "Forster Lodge" adjoining the Society's original premises in South Yarra on 4th March 1963 was an important even in the story of Try's continuing effort to provide hostel accommodation and the proverbial "home away from home" atmosphere for young people.
Forster Lodge catered for eight boys aged from 14 to 16 years, most of them State wards who were victims of a disturbed domestic situation.
One of the factors behind the success story of Forster Lodge, were the dedicated married couple, Harry and Dorothy (Dot) McVeigh, who supervised the operations of Forsters Lodge for 25 years as the "mother and father"of the hostel inhabitants.
